大凡军事爱好者都或多或少地看过或拥有军事类的杂志。对于这些刊物的评价，仁者见仁、智者见智，是好是坏，大家早有论断。估计每一位军事发烧友都是从《航空知识》、《舰船知识》、《兵器知识》这三大知识开始的。想当年，市面上仅此三家而已，若想多看一点都很难找到其他的杂志。而今杂志多了，但挑选的余地依然不大。多数朋友对三者颇有微辞，认为它们经常老调重谈，毕竟它们只是科学普及型杂志，要顾及多数菜鸟的特点。对于比较资深的军事爱好者，《兵器》（原名武器）、《现代兵器》、《现代舰船》、《国际航空》、《坦克装甲车辆》等可能是不错的选择。除了前面三个外，后者是专门的航空杂志，近年又不断分化出《航空制造工程》、《航空科学技术》、《无人机》等，除了一些军事航空内容外，有相当篇幅是民航。因此，除了几个别的飞机发烧友外，一般的、还算是比较资深的军事爱好者是不会购买、阅读的。在老牌的杂志苦苦挣扎之际，一些新兴的杂志也逐渐淡出人们的视野。《航空史研究》、《航空航天博览》、《海陆空天惯性世界》、《军事历史》、《航空周刊（月末版）》在红火了一阵之后，除了前者，即陈朴办的《航空史研究》消失外，另外三本还在苦苦支撑。《航空航天博览》在前些年嫁接台湾省的《军事家》（英文名译为《全球防御》），只是里面的内容不符合大陆读者的口味。至于《海陆空天惯性世界》（又名《防务》），说句实话，里面还真有文章可读。例如，离子鱼、管带、挥戈、钱锟、高智等人的文章多属上乘之作。不知销量为何上不去。近年来，《国际展望》、《舰载武器》、《兵工科技》、《航空世界》《航空档案》异军突起，大有重新洗牌之势。《国际展望》由原来的讲述国际关系的刊物，摇身一变成了比较受欢迎的军事刊物。《舰载武器》、《兵工科技》依托资源与价格优势，在初级爱好者当中颇受欢迎。《航空世界》1999年创刊后，因版面设计等问题，差一点玩完。后来经东北的“大嘴巴鳄鱼”输血，挺过了难关，被《国际航空》杂志社重新收回。贤庭居士在此重点谈谈《航空史研究》、《航空档案》。提起《航空史研究》，就不能不谈及陈朴。正是陈从原来的《武器》到了《航空史研究》后，才由一本从未见诸世面的小杂志，一跃成为炙手可热的刊物。可惜好景不长，在出版到第87期后，便人间蒸发，读者们看到的也就是72～87期罢了。后来陈朴创办了《战场》，但出版几本后，竟连他本人也不知去向。《航空档案》在一年前的销量也不行，待大名鼎鼎的王辉到了该杂志社后，情况有了改观。新设计的版面让人耳目一新，更可喜的是，资深航空迷盼望已久的，具有力度、深度的好文章、好杂志终于面世了。涌现出了辛文、离子鱼、江雨、老毕、张明德、高智、潘文林等作者及其作品。更为难能可贵的是该杂志连篇累牍地刊登了屠基达院士的《超七史话》，成为研究FC－1枭龙战斗机的史料。该刊在关注大型飞机方面走在了同侪的前面――多数军事、航空类杂志对此反应迟钝，反倒是相《三联生活周刊》、《南风窗》等作出了专题报道。
